AISC 13th Edition (AISC 360-05) which was founded by AISC 360 offers limit state of design and allowable strength of tube and pipe columns carried out under axial compression. Design entails calculating the available strength on the basis of yield stress and section properties and column slenderness with flexural buckling equations and local buckling equations where relevant. This makes the column able to withstand loads applied to it with reasonable safety and efficiency.
